Hello and welcome!
I’m Kelly Paras, owner and creator of Flip Flop Caravan.
FFC began in 2010 as a travel blog and resource, sharing stories to inspire others to explore the world around them.
The blog archive still exists (right here), but as time passed, photography became my main focus for FFC. I worked as a photographer documenting everything from naturalization ceremonies to corporate events. And every day I walked the neighborhoods of Washington, DC creating images. (Have photography needs? Let’s work together!)
During the quarantine of 2020, I developed the retail aspect of my photography business, creating a line of fine art prints and greeting cards of iconic DC landscapes.
To display fine art prints, I sought out discarded, old, or otherwise imperfect wooden frames to repair and refinish by hand. Each framed piece is one of a kind because it is housed in a frame that has had a whole life prior to its current use.
And that’s where the ethos of FFC came into focus; giving new life to old objects to extend their lifecycles and keep them out of landfills.
FFC now specializes in environmentally-conscious photography products as well as creating collections of vintage and pre-loved items, each of which carry the stories of their past lives.
The vintage collection is highly curated with quality, individuality, and function in mind. Years of extensive travel and a deep love of history and design inform the selection which sources items originating from all over the world.
Taken together, these offerings provide unique, sustainable home décor options that are full of character.
I used to write stories about travels and places afar, and now I curate objects with their own stories, ready to find a new home.
From my home to yours,
Kelly
